Established in 1954 Thorncliffe has 3,858 homes housing a population of 8,693 as of 2012. These homes range in price form approximately $400,000 to $1.5M. Boundaries for the community include Upper North Haven to the west, Trelle Drive to the east, McKnight Boulevard to the south and 64th Avenue to the north.

Parks & Recreation
Thorncliffe has a lot of green space; in fact, it contains three parks: Laycock Park, Thorncliffe Park and half of Egerts Park. The first features two softball fields and a large area of green space; the second features a large area of green space as well, in addition to a softball and baseball field; the last features a large strip of green space and one softball field.

There are many stores just outside the community like Tim Hortons, Ingraph Limited, Lab Machine Works, BC Auto Body, Cycle Works, McDonalds, Pisces Pet Emporium, Coles, the Deerfoot Mall, My Florist, Dairy Queen and more.
