Somerset is quite the young community by Calgary southwest standards, established in 1995. 3,136 homes are located in Somerset as well as a population of 8,540, as of 2012. Home prices range from $400,000 to $600,000 approximately. The borders of the community include James McKevitt Road to the west, Shawville to the east, Spruce Meadows Trail to the south and 162 Avenue to the north.
Transit
Bus route 52 services the Somerset area, as well as Evergreen, with the nearest stop located on Shawville Ga. The LRT line also runs through the area with three stations along the way.

Parks & Recreation
When residents are interested in more than what is within their community, they can visit nearby parks which are generally larger. For example, for dog owners the Spruce Meadows Off-Leash Dog Park is perfect, and located only a short drive northwest. The largest nearby park is the Fish Creek Provincial Park, which everyone in the area knows and which is also chock-full of amenities -- everything visitors could want -- making Somerset a well-positioned community for outdoor recreation. Also, when shopping is of order, the Shawnessy Shopping Centre is ideal.
