Ponds, pathways and playgrounds
Copperfield was designed around its green spaces, and it shows. Copper Pond anchors the central park area with a water feature, pathways and a playground, while Wildflower Pond on the other side of the community adds tennis courts, a skate park and a natural skating surface that fills with kids every winter. An extensive pathway network ties it all together, so most homes are a short stroll from a park.
The active community association keeps the calendar full with events, markets and seasonal programs, and the 130th Avenue retail district — one of the largest shopping corridors in the southeast — is just minutes away for groceries, restaurants and pretty much everything else.
Schools
Copperfield has two schools inside its boundaries: Copperfield School for public elementary students and St. Isabella School, a Catholic elementary and junior high. Older public students are typically designated to middle and high schools in neighbouring communities, including Dr. Martha Cohen School in New Brighton and Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School in Seton. It’s always smart to confirm current designations with the school boards before you buy.
Location and commute
Copperfield sits inside the curve of Stoney Trail, with the ring road bordering it to the north and east. That means fast access to Deerfoot Trail, 52nd Street and the rest of the city. The downtown commute generally runs 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic, and the South Health Campus hospital is only a few minutes south.
The Copperfield market
This is one of the most accessible price points in the southeast, and that’s a big part of the appeal. Townhomes and condos offer some of the most attainable entry-level options in the quadrant, the heart of the community is well-priced detached family homes, and larger homes give move-up buyers room to grow. Entry-level inventory tends to move quickly here, so being prepared matters — ask me for the latest CREB® price bands before you start your search.
